Hougang MRT station is one of four interchanges among 12 planned MRT stations that forms the first phase of the Cross Island Line MRT. The Cross Island Line is expected to be completed by 2029 will convenience travel between the West and the East and will provide an alternative to the existing East-West Line.

Hougang Interchange will serve as a transfer between the new Cross Island Line and the existing North East Line which runs from Punggol to Harbourfront. Holistically, with the MRT interchange and the new integrated transport hub being planned, commuters traveling to and from Hougang by public transport is getting more efficient and more pleasant.

When completed, the Hougang MRT Interchange will have an entrance/exit that is about 600 meters to Florence Residences condo.
