Hougang

Punggol Park

A 16-hectare park at Hougang Avenue 8 with the purpose of providing endless leisure and enjoyment for the whole family. Surrounding a 5-hectare lake, children can play at the playground while seniors can enjoy a nice evening stroll along the pavement. Active residents can enjoy cycling or jogging. The Five &2 Bistro at Punggol Park offers chill and relaxing Alfresco dining atmosphere with a great lake view. Definitely a good place to enjoy an early dinner in a tranquil lake view atmosphere that helps to clear the mind.

Hougang Mall

A no-frills heartland mall that provides for the day to day necessities for residents and a place for families to hang out. It has a NTUC supermarket, a food court on the fifth floor and a small playground on the roof. Completed in 1997 and renovated in 2006, the 22-year-old mall is definitely an iconic and historical mainstay of the Hougang community.

Serangoon Park Connector

A popular outdoor recreational route for cyclists and nature walks that is teeming with biodiversity and natural vegetation. The park connector runs along Serangoon River and is a must-visit for families who love to connect with nature.

Church of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary

Church-Blessed-Virgin-Mary

Established in 1852 to serve the Teochew community in Hougang, the church was designated a national monument of Singapore for its historic and architectural significance. Appreciate the original neo-Gothic style with its characteristic pointed doors and stained windows during your visit. Be inspired by the impressive presence of the tall belfry tower capped with a spire and ornate cross.

Kovan

Lola’s Cafe

lola-cafe

Quite evidently the most popular hipster cafe in Kovan. Expect long queues. The food is really good and affordable, and people are still talking about this place. So do not miss out if you want to look good in front of friends. The cafe serves breakfast from 11am-3pm, starters from 3pm – 6pm, and dinner from 6pm-9pm. The must-try Butter Croissant, Avocado Eggs Benedict, Sea Salt Chocolate Tart With Coffee Cream, and Nachos Cheese Fries.

Kovan Market & Food Centre

kovan-wet-market

While Kovan is known for hipster cafes, expensive but good Teo Chew porridge, authentic Korean and Thai restaurants, the local residents swear by the cheap and good local hawker fare at the Kovan Market & Food Centre. Definitely, the place to visit if you have a craving for our local delights such as Nasi Lemak, Wanton Noodles, Soon Kueh, Economic bee hoon and rice, fried Hokkien Mee and more. And all of them are truly good.

Water Soccer at Kovan Sports Centre

How about a water-themed version of the world’s most famous game in ankle deep water? Water Soccer is played not on grass but in a nicely inflated court. Skills don’t apply but the ability to have fun will help you thrive. Kovan Sports Centre claims that playing water soccer helps improve an individual’s core strength. Guys who wish to sport abs like Cristiano Ronaldo must give it a try!
